Biography

About Tim

Tim McDonnell grew up in the wilderness of northeastern Minnesota on the periphery of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.  He spent decades teaching English and reading skills to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in suburban Minneapolis.  By avocation, he is an avid paddle tripper, fly-fisherman, writer, and dreamer.  Since his retirement, Tim spends his time writing and doing volunteer work for a Twin Cities non-profit organization that helps individuals transition out of homeless shelters and into independent living.  He also spends a great deal of time helping his wife fulfill their mutual commitment to happiness.  When Tim is not in the woods, he is either writing about the woods or dreaming about his next paddle journey.

Tim recently chatted with WTIP Community Radio about his new book. If you missed it, you can listen to the conversation by clicking this link http://www.wtip.org/tim-mcdonnells-latest-book-contemplative-paddlers-fireside-companion-why-do-manual-paddling .

Tim's second book, The Contemplative Paddler's Fireside Companion, just got a great review from Conor Mihell of Canoe and Kayak Magazine. It is presently on the magazine's website.  You can check this out by Googling:  C&K's Guide to Fall Reading, or clicking the link here:
